Cotahuasi Canyon is well known for its great panoramic views this trek is a mix of fantastic sceneries that the north part of Cotahuasi Canyon can offer us for 5 day of visit (we pass through the highest and longest hung bridge of Arequipa, visiting geological rock formations, Inca and pre -Inca ruins, local textile factory, hot springs and more besides we gonna have some stops to see the pethrogliphs of Toro Muerto and the dinosaurios footprint for the lunch we have the option to eat shrimps and rest on hammocks in Majes River Lodge. Time to visit: Is possible to visit during the whole year but the best time to visit is between April till November then the rain season comes and there are frequent rained days despite of this always you can see the sun shining everyday.
Itinerary:
day 1:
p.m. Departure from Arequipa to Cotahuasi.
p.m. Arrival to cotahuasi .dinner and overnight.
Day 2:
a.m. After breakfast our trek of 2 hours starts we pass through the highest and longest hungest bridge of Arequipa “Chaime Bridge ” having a complete view of the canyon in that part as well as the flora and fauna surrounding the area . Then we continue with the transport to Pampamarca town.
p.m. Box Lunch and a trek uphill and down hill of 5 hours starts again. This trek gives the opportunity to have other perspective of the canyon. We visit The geological rock formations of ” Huito” on the top of the mountain in front the town besides on the nearby we see Huari ruins later on we gonna get a viewpoint to get the panoramic view of Uscune water falls. On the return to the town we visit a local factory of textiles by the way Pampamarca is well know for rugmakin
p.m. return to Cotanuasi,dinner and overnight.
Day 3:
a.m. after breakfast we go directly to Puica Town here we start the trek uphill and down hill for 4 hours visiting the impressive ruins of Maucallacta and enjoy the local people of this town.
p.m. after box lunch we continue to Alca where we have time to explore the view ” Peruvian men say that from this town are coming the most beautiful girls of Arequipa”.
p.m. we enjoy the hot springs “Huicho” water of 38 º.
Pm. Back in Cotauasi, Dinner and overnight.
Day 4:
a.m. After breakfast we leave on a trek of almost half day to visit the Sipia water fall of 150 mt of falldown
p.m. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5:
a.m. After breakfast we start the trip back to Arequipa having some stop on the way like: The pethrogliphs of Toro Muerto and the dinosaurios footprint for the lunch we have the option to eat shrimps and rest on hammocks in Majes River Lodge.
p.m. Arrival in Arequipa .

Note: For people who can get tired on the trek is possible to hire mules.
